Even if you practice proper oral hygiene and visit our office often, accidents can happen. Knowing what to do in the case of a dental emergency can mean the difference between losing and saving a tooth.
If a permanent tooth gets knocked out, keep it moist. Try to place the tooth back into the socket without touching the root. Do not try to force it. If you cannot get the tooth to reinsert, place your tooth between your cheek and your gums to keep it moist. Another option is to place the tooth in milk or a tooth preservation product. Visit Hawkins Family Dentistry immediately.
Bit Tongue or Lip
To treat a bit tongue or lip, gently clean the area with water and apply a cold compress to your face. If the bleeding is excessive or if it continues, visit our office or go to the emergency room.
Clean the area by rinsing your mouth with warm water. Use floss to gently remove any food that is caught between the teeth. Do not place aspirin on the sore tooth or gum tissues. Visit our dentist.
Rinse your mouth immediately with warm water to clean the tooth. Use a cold compress to control swelling. Come to our office as soon as possible.
